Hello. We are the Alexander family, Lynn, George and Graham. On September 12, 2013 our lives changed forever when flood waters flowed through our property and house in Colorado. It was, and continues to be, a traumatic experience to be part of a natural and federally declared disaster...the 500-year flood that hit the front range of Colorado last September.
The nearby creek was so large and swollen that flood waters were diverted through a neighbor's property, down the street that deadends into our property, and the creek literally flowed through our house and property for 6 days!

We have been displaced from our home, our house and property will never be the same. We have significant damage; an important part of our house was destroyed, the driveway was washed away, 100-year old trees fell over, our fence is down, and we have over 1/2 acre of 2'-4' of mud. It has been a long and slow process with many stages in recovery from this devastating event. We hope to be able to move back into our reconstructed house in about 2 months. But, it will be years before everything that was lost is replaced and our property is rehabilitated.

The cost is staggering, over $170,000 in damages, reconstruction, replacement of articles, work to the yard and property. We have received assistance from various government agencies. We also have worked hard to raise the necessary money to rebuild our lives -- spending countless hours contacting local agencies and charities. However, the amount raised will not cover even half of what we need.
