Help a Nurse

Hello, I’m a retired nurse, I have been in the nursing field for 45 years and have dedicated my life to my patients and students. While teaching the nursing program and working MedSurg surgical, intensive care and hospice, the rewards and blessings of being a hospice nurse for the last 10 years, is that my patients loved me. Being with them through the last stages of their life and that I could be with them and make the transition a safe and easier experience for them.

I was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes after a viral infection that almost caused my death, it caused my pancreas to stop producing insulin. I was able to recover from that after 6 months. I have had 4 surgeries since then and have another coming up this month, I never dreamed that diabetes would be in such control of my life. I’ve always been very healthy until the diagnosis.

I am trying to raise money to help pay for the mounting surgical bills and other expenses, like hiring someone to help me with the tasks I can no longer do.

I must humble myself and ask for help, I have tried every avenue I could think of, this is my last resort. I would greatly appreciate any contributions `from nurses, students, or those that know what dedicated nurses do, because we love our profession and our patients.
