HELP GEORGIA BEAT CANCER FOR THE SECOND TIME!

Georgia Fletcher has received some devastating news and she needs you. Along with her parents, Carly and Brett, and her sister and brother, this young local family needs your support to fight cancer, for the second time.

Georgia suffered from cancer when she was just 4 years old. She was diagnosed with high risk, stage 4 Neuroblastoma (a rare childhood cancer) after complaining of recurring hip pain in 2013. She required several rounds of Chemotherapy, antibody treatment, and a stem cell transplant at Randwick Children’s Hospital in Sydney. Georgia underwent intense therapy for almost 12 months and she had to live with her family away from their Sussex Inlet home at the Ronald McDonald House attached to the children’s hospital. During this extremely traumatic and difficult time, Georgia had to stay in isolation, sometimes for up to 42 days at a time, where only her parents and nursing staff were able to visit and support her. A challenging and frightening experience for anyone let alone a young child.

At the end of her treatment, Georgia was one of the lucky ones. The cancer was gone and she had to travel to Sydney every 3 months with her family for 12 months to undergo further tests to ensure the cancer didn’t return. Thankfully she didn’t relapse within that time so they then extended her check ups to every 6 months.

Until recently…

Unfortunately, earlier this year Georgia complained of a sore hip once again and has been limping because of the pain. After undergoing a series of tests, it has been confirmed that Georgia has relapsed with neuroblastoma and she has been diagnosed with this horrible disease for the second time, now aged 9. Once again, the cancer is aggressive and has spread to multiple areas of her little body.  Her family is trying to make sense of this tragic news, leaving her parents, older sister and younger brother, devastated at the unknown future that lies ahead for Georgia.

Georgia has recently been to Sydney Children’s Hospital to have a bone marrow aspiration (a procedure that involves taking a sample from the soft tissue inside her bones). With the biopsy results, her specialists will try to determine the course of action for Georgia’s second fight against cancer, however her prognosis is not yet known as treatment options for relapse patients depend on each child’s circumstance. In the meantime, she begins chemotherapy at Randwick Children’s Hospital in the next couple of weeks. We are deep in hope that she can win this battle once again.

Georgia’s family will experience significant emotional, physical and financial stress as a result of her treatment in Sydney. They need your support so they can be there to help Georgia fight this horrendous battle.

Please donate! All funds will go directly to the Fletcher family to help with expenses related to Georgia’s treatment.  This is life saving treatment that is required to give Georgia the best possible chance to beat this horrible cancer one again. Please…help us fight Georgia’s plight.
