Ryder's Journey

Donation protected
At 20 weeks pregnant Josh and Alona learned that their baby boy had a major heart defect. A condition called Hypoplastic left heart Syndrome. Or HLHS for short. He basically has half a heart. The left side of his heart didn't develop. Only about 1 in every 5000 babies are born with HLHS. He would need a series of 3 open heart surgeries to reroute arteries and add stints so that the right side of his heart could do all of the work. He had his first open heart surgery at 4 days old. By the way, did you know a newborn's heart is the size  of a walnut? Ryder's being half a walnut. He was in the hospital for 1 month. He had many visits to doctors and specialists after he was home. His second open heart surgery was at 5 months old. Just 4 weeks ago. He had a rough time after. But being the strong little guy that he is, he was home in a week. He is back at Mott Children's hospital. Possibility needing another surgery. Alona has been unable to work outside of the home. Ryder can't be in daycare right now. Josh has been working. However, he has taken time off to be with Ryder at the hospital. I decided to start this GoFundMe page for them to help out with the cost of gas, hotels and food and other expenses that may come up with the challenges of caring for a heart warrior baby. Please keep Ryder in your prayers. Thank you so much.
