Lisa's fight against cancer

Donation protected
UpDate: Lisa has since been to MD Anderson and  Cancer Center of America's to try and find treatment to fight the Stage 4 Metastatic Breast Cancer that has now advanced into her lungs. However, she has not gotten the answers she is searching for. Lisa has been through so much in the past month, disappointment from declined trial studies to returning home from Georgia 's Cancer Center of America via medical flight due to lack of further treatment options.   During this uncertain time, we ask for your support and continued prayers while Lisa fights to grow stronger and spends time with Ben and family.

Meet my best friend of 14 years, Lisa Lehmann. Lisa is 35, she has a successful career and she's a mother to sweet Benjamin who will be 6 years old this month. There is not enough space here to share all the wonderful moments we have shared together as friends, so to make it short and sweet- Lisa is the most loving, dependable and trusting human being I have ever known.  Her smile will light up a room and her positive attitude is contagious. She will always put others first and chooses to see the best in all and everything around her. Life as she knew it changed in 2007, she was diagnosed with breast cancer at the age of 25. After months of chemo and radiation, she beat it... for the next 8 years of her life she began to get back to herself. She became a mother, found peace in practicing yoga, and her hair had grown long and beautiful again. During a regular checkup in the Fall of 2013 she was told the breast cancer had metastasized into her brain and right eye. Though scared, she faced this fight head on but realized it was back with a vengeance. More chemo and radiation for the next three years. During this time, her retina detached in her right eye. It was just one thing after another. During all of this she continued to work, parent, and keep her faith. They were able to reattach her retina but then found a hole in her cornea. Next, they did a cornea transplant, which seemed to work but she has continued to have issues to this day, such as having to have her eye stitched up off and on and trying to get it to heal for months. Finally, they have found a solution, scleral lens, which after everything she is being told insurance will not cover this. Late 2016 Lisa was given a break from chemo, giving her body and mind a rest- she was enjoying life spending as much time with Ben, family, and friends as possible. In early 2017, during a routine scan they discovered it was back... more aggressive than ever in her brain, lungs, and bones. She continues to fight, all the while still working full time, being a wonderful mother and smiling. As her best friend, this has been the most miraculous and admirable thing to witness. Lisa is by far the bravest, strongest and most faithful woman I have ever known. She continues to wake up and put her feet on the ground, love her son, be a dependable employee and best friend. Though Lisa has never asked for help, after countless times of asking she has agreed. So I have taken it upon myself to show her just how much we love her and want to help her. There are countless bills to be covered and most importantly her time with her son is priceless. Any support that can be given to help her in her daily fight will hopefully help ease her worries and help her rest, but most importantly remind her of just how special and loved she is.  I will leave you with a few scriptures I feel describe Lisa.
""She is clothed with strength and dignity and she laughs without fear of the future." Provers 31:25
"When she speaks, her words are wise, and she gives instructions with kindness." Proverbs 31:26
"You are altogether beautiful, my darling, beautiful in every way." Songs of Songs 4:7.

Adults don't always get to Make A Wish, but Lisa wants to want any of us want, more time with her son, her family and those she holds so dear. So please help me to bring support and love into Lisa's life, to see that beautiful smile on her face again and remind her she is not alone in this fight. It is imperative that Lisa get the medical care she needs as soon as she can. WE can help keep her spirits up, and the fight within her stronger.
