I'm raising money for StepUp Foundation.
StepUp Foundation is a not-for-profit that uses sport to improve the lives of disadvantaged young people.
Almost a million young people in England are NEET (not in employment, education or training), more than one in very seven 16-24 year olds. This is one of the most serious social problems facing the country, and it has enormous economic and social costs.
Futures4All is a project designed to re-engage young people who are NEET.
Through a series of sports activity, employability skills workshops, vocational training, community volunteering, and work experience opportunities, Futures4All hopes to increase self-esteem, development confidence, and deliver self-improvement.
Futures4All enables disadvantaged young people to develop existing/gain new skills so they can realise their true potential.
Outcomes include paid employment, further vocational training, and further education.
StepUp Foundation needs to raise £6,000 in order to put its first 20 participants through the 12-week Futures4All programme. The breakdown of costs are as follows:
Sports Hall Hire - £960
Meeting Room Hire - £1,800
Football Coaching Qualifications - £3,200 (£160 per person)
The actual cost to deliver this project is £16,000, with £10,000 being the usual fee to pay for a trainer/facilitator to deliver the workshops/coaching sessions. However, I've committed to investing my time free of charge, to ensure these 20 young adults get the start they so desperately need.
