Belize Mission Trip

Donation protected
As many of my friends and family now know, I have decided to change careers and pursue "human" nursing (and of course, carry over my 12 years of veterinary nursing experience). One of the main drives behind this change was the chance to impact someone else's health and life by using my knowledge and skills. Shortly after returning back to school, I was made aware of a chance to serve other communities in Belize. This has remained in my heart as a goal ever since.
As of this semester, I am excited to announce that I have been granted an amazing opportunity to go on a medical based mission trip to Belize in June!
This is a nursing school organized trip through the Internation Learning Services organization. We will be traveling into two to three communities to address many common and some uncommon health problems. We aim to treat aliments, help manage chronic problems and promote preventative health care everywhere we land. I hope to reach out to those in need in every way provided be it physical, mental or spiritual. All funds raised will be purely for the support of this amazing chance to practice the gift of nursing in Belize.

The school nursing objectives are as follows:
-demonstrate nursing process while providing compassionate care to diverse population
-minimize risk of harm to patients and providers (including us)
-demonstrate working knowledge of collaboration, communication, decision making, and delegation in the role of member of interdisciplinary health team
-use effective verbal, non-verbal, and written communication with patients, their families, and members of the health care team
-demonstrate culturally appropriate nursing interventions to promote safety for patients in a variety of international clinical settings; rural clinics, home visits, and hospitals
-adapt verbal, non-verbal, and written communication skills for effective communication with culturally diverse patients and healthcare team
-provide nursing care that demonstrates knowledge of Evidence Based Practice related to transcultural nature of clinical setting
-identify variances in patient centered care and impact on patient outcomes
-use of herbals when no medications are available
-participate as a member of health care team while prodding care for patients in a variety of international clinical settings
-maintain a reflective journal

Please help me in raising funds for this Nursing Mission trip. Thank you for your time and support!
