This project is aimed at meeting one of the most basic human needs that any of us have and most of us take for granted. Most of the homeless people living around us do not have access to a hot shower. In addition to many avoidable health issues, no access to a shower creates a significant, practicle problem when applying for work and housing, as well as anything else that requires human interaction.
Yet, perhaps the most significant benefit we can provide people is the refreshment, restoration and the sense of self confidence that comes with a shower and a clean change of cloths... an advantage many do not have.
Members of Gresham Bible Church have volunteered to outfit the trailer which will then be donated to Anawim Christian Community (known on the street as, "The Red Barn"). Anawim will oversee the ongoing transport and operation of the shower trailer in strategic areas of Gresham and East Portland, OR .
A full breakdown of project the costs has been developed and comes to just under $6000. Any additional funds will go directly to support the operating costs of the shower trailer (approximately $1 per shower). Our hope is that this will be a successful pilot project which gets replicated by many others across the country and that thousands of God's children would ultimately be served.
Thank you
