Rent help while waiting for disability

Since I was young, I have had arthritis.  For the most part I had many good days and very few bad.  Ten years ago I had cancer and had a full hysterectomy, and since then my health has deteriorated.  My arthritis in my knees has become advanced, and all treatments I have had in  the past are no longer working.  I have very limited mobility now and am in constant pain.  I am not able to work and despite having doctors recommended filing for disability, I found out it can take up to a year for a decision.  I am a single mom with two kids and just need to get by living in my apartment until my son graduates next May.  I don’t like asking for help, but I am at a loss and don’t want to lose my apartment.  I would appreciate any help in thoughts or monetary.  I continue to work with a group of doctors and hopefully we can find some type of solution so I can have some of my life and daily function back.  Thank you for reading and understanding how difficult it is for me to ask for help.
