Invest in Reason!

With the United States seeing a steady increase in both overcrowded prison systems, (Since 1980 in California alone, twenty-three prisons have been built, and only one new university campus opened) and skepticism of religion, there is a population of citizens on the rise in need of services that are not only free of religious dogma, but are scientifically shown to actually improve a persons critical thinking and moral reasoning skills to help them re-integrate into society successfully. Many of our jails, prisons and parole offices do not offer an alternative to religious materials or programs that require belief in a supernatural power. Without these alternatives, we fear many of our nations citizens will never be offered a chance for real change in their lives.

That's why I founded Saved by Reason. We are a secular prison outreach organization who's mission is to teach inmates and parolees Socratic pedagogy to help improve their critical thinking and moral reasoning skills, and to promote reason, science and secular values to help them turn their lives around. We do this by sending our "prison epistemologists" inside the institutions to teach inmates the Socratic method one-on-one, as well as by sending the inmates our SBR literature that is designed to provide a solid understanding of Socratic principles in a clear and easy way. We are located in Northern California where we work with local correctional facilities, but our goal is to go nation wide so that we can shine the light of reason in every cell block and dorm room in jails, prisons and drug rehabilitation facilities across the United States of America.
