Scott Thompson, heart transplant fund

Walter Scott Thompson is 46 years with a wife Tara Thompson and a daughter Lexi who is 12 years old. He is the son in law of Ervin & Carol Johnson of Alma. He is currently at the  Mayo clinic in Jacksonville Florida. About 10 years ago he suffered a massive heart attack that left his heart working at 25% capacity. After the past several years his condition has deteriorated to the point where a heart transplant is neccesarry to save his life. Upon evaluation for the heart transplant at the Mayo Clinic, it was discovered that to qualify for the transplant list he must under go surgery to implant an L valve into his heart to pump more blood into his lungs and other organs. 


On January 16 Scott underwent the surgery. Complications arose and he was in a coma and on a ventilator for 17 days. They thought he was on the road to recovery and was moved to a private room. One and a half days later his breathing became labored and he was rushed back to ICU. In ICU they found that he had an infection in his lung and upon further investigations and testing found that the infection had spread to his incision and from there into his bloodstream. He remains in ICU fighting for his life. He and his family live in Georgia and he is a native of Athens. His wife and daughter feel that is neccesarry for them to stay by his side.They are currently staying in an extended stay motel but funds have run out. Their room is only covered through Friday Febraury 21 and they are in need of any financial assistance that can be offered to them.
