Helping Pine Island's Own Sam Kelly

Donation protected
Let's help Sam walk again.
As many of you know Pine Island's own Sam Kelly has had health issues recently. She's suffered a serious life altering infection and has been in Gulf Coast Hospital and Healthpark Hospital for the past two weeks with severe leg problems that may cause her to have her leg amputated and keep her out of work for the foreseeable future.

Sam, as beautiful inside as she is outside, is also the primary caretaker for her 15 year old grand-daughter and without being able to work, rent and other bills are piling up. For those of you who know Sam, you know she would be the first one at your side to help. As a community we have an incredible opportunity to support our dear friend in her biggest time of need. Please contribute to Sam who brings so much more than friendship to our lives. Any, and all, assistance that can be provided will help Sam and Hailey through this difficult time.

To know Sam is to love her. Born in Matlacha and a lifelong resident of Pine Island, many of you know Sam from working at the Blue Dog in Matlacha or you may know her from her days as a commercial crabber, as owner of Kellys Seafood (now Micelis) in the 80's or Perfect Cup or Kozy Kitchen. Maybe you just know her from running in to her at Winn Dixie where a 2 minute trip for one item turns into an hour-long social gathering. Sam is a ray of sunshine anywhere she goes, always has a smile, a positive attitude and concern for others no matter what kind of excruciating pain she is in.
Sam started having leg pain while she cared for her husband Larry Kelly until he passed away last year, despite this she continued to work and stay active, determined to get past the pain. As time went on things progressively got worse and Sam ended up in the ER where doctors are now trying to save her leg. We don't know how this happened but we do know this- Sam is brave- and she's a fighter. The road ahead isn't easy- but Sam is very upbeat and positive despite excruciating daily treatments.

Please consider helping this very, very special lady out. If you have any questions or can help in any other way please feel free to email, call or text Margie Cooper [phone redacted] or [email redacted]
