Amber & Lee Guin

*My best friend of 25 year's house burned down. No one was home, but they did lose a dear family pet as well as nearly all of their belongings. Amber is a dear, generous person, and now needs our help. She and her husband Lee are newlyweds with a beautiful 7 year old daughter. Any little bit helps, as their home was uninsured.*
That first paragraph was typed through tears yesterday, as I had just heard the news and was at a loss for how to help. I'm sure this is a feeling that was shared by many-the helplessness inspired by a loved one's tragedy. With a day's perspective and already nearly 10% (!!!!) of the way to our goal, I feel more able to share more with you about what I'm hoping to accomplish.
I first met Amber when I was in kindergarten and my mom was her first grade teacher. I've loved her ever since. Our bond was further strengthened when 7 years ago I helped her give birth to the beautiful Dinah Marie. Another 3 years down the road and she returned the favor by attending the birth of my own daughter. Just this past August Amber wed the love of her life, Lee Guin, and the new family of three settled in his trailer on family property. Lee is a proud member of the Marine Corps and served in Guantanimo Bay at the peak of it's time as a prison.
This brings us to the afternoon of Feb.16, 2014, when an electrical fire started in the ceiling of thier home. No one was home except for Ada, Amber's beloved 13 year old dog. Ada perished in the fire from smoke inhalation, but I take comfort in the fact that she was so well loved and surely knew that fact. She was a sweet, gentle soul, and she will be missed as surely as she was loved.
Ironically, the trailer couldn't be insured because of the presence of a  fireplace that was not up to code, but was burned by an electrical fire. I set the goal as $5,000 because that is the estimated expense of hauling the old trailer off and moving a new one in. Please give whatever you can and if you can't contribute monetarily, please share this page to raise awareness of this beautiful, loving and hard working family in need of help from all of us. Working together we can make this burden a little easier to bear. Thank you so much for reading, more for sharing, and even more for donations as all furniture, appliances and the home itself are ruined. Thank you, Friend, a million times!
