Planting the Seeds of Change

My name is Maryam Nayeb Yazdi, I am an activist and consultant/strategist working in the field of human rights and social change.

The work & research of my team and I has led us on an extensive path of building a global foundation that aims to make clear and open communication widespread among people of civil societies around the world and the officials in power. We believe a major catalyst for social & political conflict in the world is lack of communication & resulting misunderstanding.

Notions can be dangerous and they can be liberating. Ideas can make or break a society; they are the difference between real change and stagnation, oppression and liberation.

Our team of activists, researchers, scientists, and lawyers want to facilitate ideas that make rather than break societies. We want to spread notions that make real change inevitable and stagnation unthinkable. We want to liberate the oppressed through communication.

Our mission has been touched upon in a cover story for the Toronto star:

"...as [Maryam's] audience builds, so do her hopes and goals. Her current mission is to build an international civil society network, connecting people around the world through the Internet so they can understand their common issues, and get down to examining the complex questions that underlie them. Then they can pressure the authorities to work out solutions."

"The more we understand one another and ourselves the more we learn to communicate," she says. "What I want to do now is use online technology and social media to revamp creative activism and advocacy on global issues."

We have a vision, but we need time. We need time that we can convert into attention and clarification. Money buys time. There isn't a market for human rights, there isn't a direct benefit people are paying for. Often the people who benefit from human rights activities are imprisoned and have nothing. Market forces are not in our favour.
