Help Us Save Patty

Hello everyone, today our beloved family dog was attacked by another dog during her morning walk. (I’m leaving the breed of the attacker out to avoid any bashing since we as a family love all animals.) The incident took place on Venice Island on Base Ave E. between Cooper St. and Davis St. at round 12:00pm 02/17/19. My father was walking Patty when a dog came out of what appeared to be a mechanic’s shop and tore open Patty’s neck and chest. Many bystanders came by to offer assistance and I would like to say thank you to the gentleman who loaded my father and our dog in the back of his truck, and drove them to their car. Venice Police department was contacted but didn’t show up for over an hour and the owners of the attack dog left after giving us bad information. Animal control eventually came to the scene and told us they knew of the dog from previous incidents and are currently looking for the dog and its owner. Patty is at a Sarasota animal hospital and has undergone surgery. Her prognosis is still unknown and she will require more surgeries to save her life. Over $2000 has been invested and we would appreciate any help from our friends and family. Patty was rescued from the Sarasota Dog Track and quickly became a loving member of our family and a service dog to my father.
