David’s Liver Transplant Recovery Needs

Two years ago, David’s liver started failing. As his liver disease progressed, he was unable to continue working. His wife, Donna, has been by his side, getting him to his seemingly endless doctors’ appointments, tests, emergency room visits, and treatments while trying to hold down her job. During this time, David and Donna were informed that he was going to need a liver transplant. By mid January, his condition became critical.
On January 29, they received the fantastic news that a donor liver had been found. On the evening of January 30, David underwent successful liver transplant surgery.
Unfortunately, David has since encountered many complications on his road to recovery. He is currently still in the ICU at the Loyola University Medical Center in Maywood, IL. While his body seems to be accepting his new liver, the toll and stress has shut down his kidneys. The doctors hope kidney function will return, but until then, he is on dialysis. Recently, David has been diagnosed with an unknown infection and pneumonia.
Donna has been totally committed to be at the hospital for David to be supportive for him and to work with his medical team . She is commuting at least 3 hours back and forth from their home. When possible, Donna tries to find affordable accommodations near the hospital.
David’s recovery is going to be long and difficult. Due to the enormous time commitments to David's illness, she lost her job. We are humbly asking, on Donna and David's behalf, for donations to help defray the costs with medical, travel, and housing needs that have accumulated and are continuing to accumulate.
