Medical, Transport and Living Expenses

Alvin Kolen IV was born on Nov. 2, 2013 weighing 1lb 9oz.  Shortly after his birth he developed upper respiratory issues causing complications in his breathing. Alvin spent several weeks in the Nicu receiving steroid breathing treatments and spent a lot of time on the ventilator until his doctors determined that they could do nothing more for him and recommended that he be seen by an ENT specialist at the Children's Healthcare of Atlanta. After 2 days spent at the CHOA the ENT did testing and determined that he had severe scarring of his airway and would need a Tracheostomy to create an open airway. Weighing only 4lbs, Alvin received his Tracheostomy on Feb.7, 2014.
Alvin's mom lives in Jonesboro, Ga which is 27 miles away from the hospital and struggles with transportation there and back. In addition, as a self employed barber his fathers barbershop experienced damages from a fire at a neighboring business and has not been able to work since November. Due to financial hardship the family is displaced and will need to obtain housing once their son has been released.
Through a tremendous amount of support and prayer we will continue to celebrate Alvin's progression. Any amount donated will be greatly appreciated to assist with medical, travel and living expenses on Alvin's journey from the hospital to home. Thanks and God bless.
