Hodges Family Help Fund

In February of 2014 just two months before my Mom lost her battle to breast cancer, my dear friend Juli called me to tell me that her beautiful mother had just been diagnosed with the same horrible disease.  I shared this news with my Mom and she made me promise to "be there" for Juli and her family.  So here I am asking for your help.  Having witnessed first hand the financial, emotional and physical devastation cancers toll takes on a family I could not sit by and do nothing.

Juli's parents "Laura and Glen" have been married for
47 years. They both worked at Sperry which was eventually bought out by Honeywell.  Laura continued on as a techinical editor for their space program and Glen worked in stationary stores.  They have three children, Rick, Debbie, Juli and six grandchildren.  They were boosters for the University of Arizona athletic program while their daughter Juli was cheering for the Wildcats and took many road trips to support both football and basketball over the years.  Laura and Glen loved traveling, going to the beach, Las Vegas and most of all spending time with their children and grandchildren.

When Laura was diagnosed with stage II breast cancer her course of treatment was a mastectomy and then unexpectedly 8 days post surgery an artery burst causing a chest hematoma.  She underwent emergency surgery which compounded her recovery.  Following surgeries Laura journeyed through the ugly road of chemotherapy followed by radiation.  Her beloved Glen never leaving her side remained her caregiver.

February 2015 , a year later Glen takes a bad fall and ends up in the hospital with several facial fractures and fluid on the brain.  After a spinal tap and an MRI revealed that he had stage IV pancreatic and liver cancer.  Devasted the family was told that there was nothing that could be done for him and home hospice was the next step given mere weeks or days left to live.

With only Medicare and no supplemental insurance quickly their savings have been wiped out.  The family is struggling to meet the needs to care for both parents and their daughter Juli who is a school teacher is now with the help of her brother, taking on that role.

The Hodges Family were always the first in line to help others and now find themselves in need which is very humbling. If you can help in any way big or small we would be forever grateful.  Prayers, and sharing this story if you are unable to donate is also incredibly appreciated!
