Our Future Home

On October 9th we lost our home in Clearlake, CA to fire (Sulphur Fire) and our life changed forever. We are older couple and we are raising money to re-build our house and offset major losses. That whole night seems now like a bad dream. First, we nearly had a collision with a deer on the way home, and then five hours later, we had literally 5 minutes to leave our home forever. In the middle of the horrible night, my husband grabbed me and told me that we have to evacuate NOW. The house was pitched black (no electricity) and full of smoke. We have never really made a conscious decision to leave our house where we lived happily for nearly two decades. It simply the smoke forced us to leave. The survival instinct kicked in and we found ourselves driving almost through the fire. On top of that, while evacuating, I barely escaped a head-on collision with a fire truck parked on the road.

We are very happy that we are alive and have supportive friends and family. We are so lucky that we have them. However, we also lost 30 years of hard work within 10 minutes! We lost our home, our Shangri-La, and a favorite vacation spot for our family and friends. We were always supporting others and it’s difficult to ask for help now. It feels weird…but if someone could help us to put our life together and rebuild the house, we’ll be grateful for any donations.
