David Greene needs Dr. House

Donation protected
This GoFundMe account was opened to help David Greene. Some of you may know David, and some of you may know his sister Deanna, his father Fred, or his mother Felice, who has touched so many lives in the South Bay as a Parent Ed teacher. However you are connected to the Greene family, they thank you for taking the time to read this page and supporting them.

David Greene has been having gastrointestinal illness of unknown origins for many years now. As a freshman in college, he was diagnosed Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, which is often a label doctors give when they don't know what a patient suffers from. During college, David suffered from various painful gastrointestinal symptoms that made it difficult to attend classes at NYU, and caused him to take several medical leaves and eventually drop out of college all together. For over 7 years, he has shuffled from doctor to doctor, hoping to finally have an accurate diagnosis and, even more importantly, some relief from feeling ill, all to no avail. He has taken test after test, and seen specialist after specialist, but no one can figure out what is wrong.

Due to the immobilizing discomfort David endures on a regular basis, he is unable go to school, work, or have a normal social life. Even eating is a dreadful experience as he never knows how is body will react to food, and so David eats very little and is underweight.

Earlier this year, it seemed that there would be a light at the end of this excruciating tunnel, when David was approved by his medical insurance company to see an expert at the Mayo Clinic in Minnesota. However, after waiting months for his appointment, the insurance approval was revoked the week before David was scheduled to depart. Needless to say, David's hope of relief was dashed and he was brought to a new low. After looking at different insurance options available to David to try to find one that would allow him to go out of state to the Mayo Clinic, it was determined that the family would be charged out-of-network costs.  This is beyond their financial ability to pay since the insurance company only pays 50% of what the company deems an appropriate fee, NOT what the Mayo Clinic will actually charge.

We are hoping that all the people that care for the Greenes will donate toward this worthy cause, whether it be $1 or $100 or more. This medical issue has weighed heavily on the Greene family for far too long, and we all have a chance to play a role in alleviating this stress and giving a young man his life back. Those of us as parents can only imagine what it is like to watch a child suffer year after year with no answers, and those of us without children can be thankful for our health as we click the donate button.

Please donate whatever you can today. Thank you so much.
