6th grade Bully Prevention Program

Magnolia Science Academy in Lake Balboa has adopted "Bully Prevention Tips for Teens: 18 Powerful Ways to Protect Yourself through High School"  in their school for all 6th graders and taught by 11th and 12th graders.  The interesting part is how this came about...

Last year, Adrian, a 10th grader, decided he wanted to bring the  program to his school.  He and his friend, Cindy were trained by our interns who are Pepperdine students.  Adrian surveyed the 6th graders and found the kids that he felt would need the program most.  Those students were then taught the program and another surveyed showed how much they benefitted.  This year, Adrian arranged for all 6th graders to be able to learn these valuable life skills.  He trained 6 male and female students and paired them up so each class will have a male and female role model, mentor and teacher that they can feel comfortable speaking to.  He also arranged with YPI, their after school program, to fund Saturday community service field trips for these students and their teachers showing how important giving back is.  

We are very proud of Adrian and Magnolia for creating this innovative program that they're bringing to their school and want to support them in any way we can.  

They need help buying 100 books so all their 6th graders will have a copy of the workbook that they can write in.  Please help support this amazing program! This will help these kids increase their social and emotional skills while decreasing bullying.  It also, enables high school students to take on leadership roles.  A definite win-win!
