Cai Captivates Cannes
Donation protected
Hello, my name is Cai Thomas, I'm currently a
sophomore from Miami majoring in Communications and minoring in Film Studies at
Boston College. I was recently accepted to the UGA Cannes Film Festival Study
Abroad program. I am very enthused that I was admitted because this has been
the highest volume year for applicants and they usually don't accept students
from different schools. During
my time in Cannes, France from May 10th until June 5th, I will attend numerous
screenings and seminars. Additionally, I will be enrolled in two upper level
classes, Critical Writing & Reviewing and Telecommunications Research. This
program will expand my knowledge and understanding of the film industry on a
global level that I can't gain in the states and am eager to experience. Cannes
is arguably the mecca of cinema and as a film connoisseur it has always been a
destination that I have aspired to visit so I am beyond thrilled for this
opportunity. This will be my first international experience and it will allow
me to explore a field that I am passionate about. There however is one
challenge FUNDING! The total costs of the program with tuition, fees, flights,
and incidentals is about 7,500. I have
applied for numerous grants, scholarships, and have saved money from the two
jobs I work in addition to being a full time college student. Even with the
support of the before mentioned sources, I am still in need of 2,500 by March
10th to make this trip a reality. Any donation you are able to contribute would
be greatly appreciated.
