Create a safer music scene with FEMIfest!

One night, on a full moon by a body of water, Bad Witch Club came to life. Bad Witch Club is a coven, and everyone can join. Bad Witch Club is music, art, magic, and community, cultivated and fostered by artists otherwise overshadowed by a white-centric, cis-centric industry and local scene. Bad Witch Club's first event, FEMIfest, was founded by Zoey Wagner at age 16 as a way to highlight female and LQBTQ artists in her local scene.
Soon after FEMIfest 4.0 found itself home in Chicago to over 700 guests and a combined 42 musicians and artists in its one weekend, FEMIfest Founder Zoey was joined by library of congress-featured poet Archie Budzar and visual artist/ experimental orchestral composer Elma Husetovic, both members of Chicago pop outfit Drama Moth, as part of a greater, mutual mission to curate meaningful artistic experiences with a queer, feminist lens. At the moment, Bad Witch Club is working with student writers and photographers to start up the Bad Witch blog, along with being hard at work curating the official BWC zine, "KARMA", featuring 10 queer, female, non-binary and POC artists from around the world, which is set to debut this September 15th. However, our most financially challenging project just may be the fifth annual FEMIfest, an event certainly unexpected to be of this size but welcomed with open and excited arms.
We will be using the money raised on this page for FEMIfest. As FEMIfest continues to grow, we have to be sensible about how much it may cost to accommodate such a crowd. We need to cover the cost of our first time renting a non-DIY style venue for two weekends. We also need to be able to compensate our artists, provide meals and other forms of hospitality for our volunteers and staff, advertising, decor, merch production, lighting/sound, as well as those little surprise costs. Putting on a festival is a big task, but it is now more than ever that safe, inclusive and liberating spaces for LGBTQ, female and femme, non-white disabled artists and fans are in created in abundance and without fear or pretension.
