Help James Get Back on His Feet

Donation protected

We are reaching out to any one who is willing to help James get back on his feet.

The past year has been incredibly difficult for James. It has been one hardship after another and they have piled up to the point where he cannot go on without the help of those around him.

Last Spring, James and I both lost our jobs in the same month. With no income to pay the rent, he was forced out of his home. The locks were changed without notice and he was only able to grab a few clothes and essential items. A few weeks later, we were told the house was robbed and that his remaining possessions were gone. Fortunately, James was able to get a job working with a good friend and things slowly started looking up, but he still has no home and has been bouncing between couches and guest rooms of some of our incredibly generous friends for several months. During that time, I was laid off from a second job and was suffering debilitating anxiety attacks related to our unstable circumstances while juggling school and (later) another seasonal job.

It has been a year since James has had a proper home.

Despite our hard work to get back on track, James' job is seasonal and in December things started to slow down. Then one night I got a phone call...James' truck was totaled in an accident. Thank God, James was unhurt...but the loss of his only mode of transportation meant he could no longer work. Additionally, shifting between friend's houses became more and more difficult.
James and I tried to view the accident as a blessing in disguise. His truck was nearly twenty years old and was not in good shape. We were told that the other driver was completely at fault and we hoped any insurance money could go toward a replacement vehicle and rent money to get James into a place to stay.

Last night, more than two months after the accident, we were informed that James would not receive any compensation from the insurance settlement. Despite James holding the title, the check was delivered to the previous owners of the truck and they took the $3500 for themselves.

We are heartbroken and are trying to hold on to hope that things will get better. Throughout all of these hardships we have tried to stay positive and never forget how blessed we are to have each other, but things still seem to be going from bad to worse and we need help getting back on our feet.

We are in desperate need of help in any way possible from any one who can. We understand if you are unable to help us financially and we ask that you pray for us and keep James in your thoughts. If anyone in the area knows of a job lead we would greatly appreciate that sort of information as well. James is very proficient in network cabling and has experience doing reset/merchandising work.
Thank you for your kindness,
Erin & James
