I have been accepted to be a part of the May/June Interfaith Peace-Builders (IFPB) Delegation to Israel and Palestine! Interfaith has offered me a $1,000 scholarship, but I still have to pay for the rest of the fees ($1,200), travel costs to get to Washington D.C from Albuquerque ($700), and for meals. I have to put down a $500 deposit by February 21, 2014!
If I don't raise this money, I won't be able to attend. Let's be honest...I am a broke college student, and I am already living on Ramen!
From IFPB: "The Delegation Program organizes delegations of people from diverse backgrounds on two-week trips to Israel/Palestine. Delegations emphasize the grassroots voices of Israelis and Palestinians immersed in the reality of the conflict. Participants on IFPB delegations bear witness to the everyday violence of war and occupation and learn from those committed to nonviolent struggle, human rights and peace with justice. IFPB delegations present alternative images and analyses which reach deeper to uncover the roots of Israeli-Palestinian conflict and avenues pointing the way to change and reconciliation."
Please help give me an opportunity to see the situation in Israel and Palestine firsthand. I believe that a small group of people can have an impact. No amount of articles or books can give me the knowledge or experience that I crave -- that is why it is crucial for me to be a part of this delegation. They've helped me with their largest scholarship, selecting me from among dozens if not hundreds of applicants. Will you help me to actually make the trip? I promise to take the knowledge I acquire to contribute to dialogue that may ultimately result in reduced suffering in the region, and perhaps even long-awaited peace in the Middle East.
Thank you for any help you care to give "“ any amount at all will be most gratefully appreciated. Here is my website: http://www.gofundme.com/6spgmg
"Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world; indeed, it's the only thing that ever has."
