Lucy's Heart Story

On January 30,2014 We welcomed our daughter Lucy. She was born with five separate heart defects. Lucy came into this world facing an uphill battle larger than life itself. Lucy's heart defects range in severity starting with Hypoplastic Right Heart Syndrome, Double Outlet Right Ventricle, Pulmonary Valve Stinosis, Ventricle Septal Defect, and lastly Transposition of the Great Arteries. We know it sounds like a lot for any one person to be born with, but Lucy is proving to be such a fighter. Lucy has to undergo a three surgery track. The Norwood, The Glenn, and The Fontana. Each surgery lasting 4-10 hours on average each with its own level of risk. Lucy has already undergone her first surgery (The Norwood) on Friday February 7, 2014. She is proving to be a fighter. Lucy has been very receptive to the benefits of the surgery. Lucy's next surgery will be in 4-6 months depending on her weight and health followed by her third surgery around her 2nd or 3rd birthday, again depending on her weight and health.


We are a family of 5 separated by 300 miles. My husband, Larry is at home trying to keep steady work coming in while taking care of our other two children. All the while I am in Los Angeles, Ca with Lucy. We try to come together for family time every couple of weeks. So I can see our other 2 children and Larry can see Lucy. It is proving to be very difficult financially with only one income coming in now and no end to the medical bills.
