Heathers words,
So, a lot can change in 2 months!!! I did my best to reach out to many of you, but as you know life gets crazy.

On June 1st, I was diagnosed with rectal cancer following a colonoscopy. It was one of the most devastating days of my life and I was in shock for weeks.

With the support of my family and friends and a fantastic team of doctors, I have begun the greatest challenge of my life and am facing this sucky diagnosis head on.

I spent most of June and July going for what seemed like 100’s of appointments....doctors, scans, lab work, etc. After 3 opinions on treatment I landed at the Northwestern Cancer Center in Warrenville. On July 23rd, I started the first course of treatment, daily radiation and chemo pills which will last until August 29th. As I finish my 2nd week of treatment, I feel great and am still running a few times a week and keeping up with the kids.

I want to thank so many of my friends and family for their help and support the past few months. I am forever grateful and will happily return the favors next year when this is all behind me. ☺️

My words of advice, if you have a symptom and it won’t go away. Don’t ignore it like I did. Go to the doctor as soon as you can! I wish I had sooner but no looking back.

In the words of my favorite Troll, Princess Poppy, “If you knock, knock me over... I WILL get back up again!!!”

Love and Hugs to ALL!!! ☺️

Her best friends words,
I love this girl and her family SO much! It has been a struggle, to say the least, to watch Heather begin this emotional and painful journey of cancer.
Every time I talk to Heather, she tells me how amazing everyone has been. People have been helping take care of the kids, bringing meals, sending gifts and cards and the list goes on and on. She can not thank you all enough for all of the support and kindness you have shown.
I decided to start this page for 2 reasons. Heather is not able to work during this long treatment process. The money she made,  was used to pay for Tatum’s preschool tuition. My hope is that we can raise money to cover the costs of his tuition. Secondly, of course they have insurance, but insurance does not cover every cent. I am hoping that raising some funds will help in that regard. Thank you all from the bottom of my heart. She’s going to get through this ❤️ !!!
