Fire Recovery Fund for Julio/Crystal

My family and I lost our home and all of our belongings due to an electrical fire that began on the fifth floor and traveled through the walls all the way down to my first floor apartment. The fire fighters responded quickly and tore down all the walls and ceilings to find the wires and make sure there wasn’t any hidden flames.Every single item in our home was destroyed either from the fire or from the smoke and fumes. Everything that was on the floor was also lost due to the water and powder left behind from the extinguishers.We were instructed not to enter our home until we are given permission from the fire department that it’s safe.The landlord declared that our apartment is uninhabitable and may take well over 6 months to repair. He didn’t have any apartments available to place us in so we have been staying in a hotel since the fire. Unfortunately since we didn’t have any renters insurance on the apartment, there isn’t anything we can do regarding our personal belongings. We are just so thankful and grateful that no one was hurt in the fire. Our kitty was hiding under the couch at the time and was able to make it out. We understand that responsibilities continue regardless of how traumatized and exhausted we may be. Trying to keep it together in between work and school is not easy but we will find a way to manage. We have been trying to replace our immediate necessities starting with winter clothes, footwear and toiletries since we were left with just the clothes on our back. Our main goal is to find an affordable 2 br apartment and be able to furnish the entire place from scratch. It breaks my heart writing this and isn’t easy to ask for donations but any support at this time will be greatly appreciated. We just want to get back on our feet and our lives back to normal.
