Destiny's Battle with Osteosarcoma (Bone Cancer). ...
Destiny Estes was a 4th grade student at Powhatan Elementary School. She played baseball for her school and enjoyed being a kid. She is a great friend of many boys and girls within her community. Unfortunately, the love for baseball ended abruptly. Due to a bad pitch, the ball hit her in her left femur and immediately swelled up. After 6 weeks, the sweeling never went down, pain got unbearable and she constantly was limping her parents knew something wasnt right. They decided to take her to the Emergency Room to get answers....

After the XRay results came back they learned she had massive swelling to her bone and needed more testing done. Within a few days the family received devastating news. Destiny had Osteosacroma....A bone cancer that eventually spread to her left lung.
She is currently undergoing intense chemotherapy at VCU/MCV Medical Center of Virginia. She has 2 upcoming major surgeries...
1) Limb Salvage (reconstruction of the leg and removal of the cancerous tumor)
2) Lung Surgery (Thoracotomy) to remove a cancerous nodule (cell).
The family is struggling to make sense of this horrific news while trying to maintain some sort of normality in their home and for Destinys brother, Elijah (4yrs old). The cancer is advanced and because of this It will need to be treated aggressively. This courageous little girl and her family are in need of help. We ask for all to join us to fight this battle with Destinys family. Believe that we can and will fight this disease!
