Hi everyone!
We are trying to raise money to help cover some of the medical expenses
from the past year and a half battle with thyroid and breast cancer. Although we do have insurance, the amount
that we are left with sure has added up!
This probably wouldn't have been such a financial burden had we not recently
relocated so that Larry could start a PhD program. This exciting change, greatly reduced our
income, though, at the time, we assumed that I would be able to take on the
role of breadwinner while Larry focused on his research and teaching. Unfortunately, our plans fell through. I was nearly finished with my master's degree
in landscape architecture when the first cancer diagnosis was given, and then 6
weeks later I was diagnosed with breast cancer. These two diagnoses, so close
together, devastated us in so many ways, only one of which has been
financially.
As you can imagine, the bills are piling up. In addition to the medical bills for the chemotherapy, surgeries and treatments associated with fighting cancers, I'm scheduled for the first of two breast reconstruction surgeries in May of this year. I feel physically and mentally ready for these new surgeries, but not financially. The surgery is complicated and will require a long hospital stay and at least 14 days bed rest in New Orleans. The surgery I'm seeking cannot be done in Arkansas.
Although the surgeon and hospital have given me an incredible gift, the cost for travel, lodging, and my portion of medical bills will be outside of our budget. This is where I turn to you for any amount of support you can afford. Any help would be so very much appreciated.
Lots of love,
Windy, Larry and Eloise
