Help Jim Higham survive round 4 of chemo

Donation protected

A few years ago Jim was diagnosed with lymphoma. Since then, between weekly six-thousand dollar injections, doctor visits and other medical expenses he has accumulated nearly two million dollars in medical debt. And the bills keep coming every month, on top of all the regular cost of living expenses. I believe he deserves our help. this is why:
The English language in all its splendor and magniloquence, can't even begin to describe what an incredible person Jim Higham is or what he means to me. He has been one of my best friends and one of the dearest people in my life since I was about six years old. Once when I was about nine, I even asked my dad if I could marry him! When my father, who was Jim's best friend, passed away, Jim came to me on the day of the funeral and told me, "You are not alone in this. I want you to know if you need anything, someone to grieve with, or if there is anything you would've come to your father to ask about, I want you to come to me. I'm here for you. Always."
Even in his grief -- which was probably just as bad as for him as it was for me -- he took the time to look out for others.
He continues to do so to this day.
Jim loves children and is adored by his many nieces and nephews, and just this past weekend, even though the side effects of his treatment have been so debilitating they've had him nearly bed-ridden, he participated in a charity event for children's heart disease. In fact, throughout each round of chemo he has endured, he has continued working every day he could teaching children how to rock climb. Giving the children of our world the confidence to overcome their obstacles, on the wall and in life.
Recently his treatments have forced him to stop working unless it's on a volunteer or charitable basis.
As his close family and friends we have done all we can to support him; holding fund raisers at our annual camping trips, driving him to appointments and supporting him financially as much as we possibly could. But a medical bill well into seven figures is beyond most people's ability to cope with, no matter how much we try to help. Can you believe that insurance that covers eighty-one percent of medical care could leave you nearly two million dollars in debt for an absolutely necessary life-saving treatment?

If anyone in the world deserves help to conquer this horror, Jim is without a doubt, one of the most worthy of candidates. I can't imagine the way my life would be, never mind all the others he continues to help on a daily basis, without Jim having enriched it in so many ways. He has brought so much joy to me and others.
Now is the perfect time to show Jim how much he means to all of us. He needs our help. Every dollar, every single cent you have to spare will help him along his continuing treatment and recovery. Please help us support him!

                                          All my gratitude, ~Rachael Weiss
