Underlying Costs after Kidney Transplant

As many of you know Dick will be going through a kidney transplant on April 9th. He has been on dialysis for months due to being diagnosed with stage 5 kidney failure. Over the years as we all know he has struggled with many different health issues and this is hopefully going to be the one that will make for a much healthier life. Not only will this be a toll on him but it will cause my Mom to take time off of work to help care for him. Which means there will be little to no income.
There are many underlying costs that insurance will not cover. Unfortunately insurance doesn't help out financially for the person who is receiving the kidney. Dick will be taken off some medication but put on other due to this transplant. These medications can cost up to $600 a month for up to a year even after insurance kicks in. He will have many doctor's appointments in Hanover for 6 months following the surgery. Some things that this money will go towards are Dick's medications, gas for transportation to doctor's appointments, household expenditures, food, and other everyday bills that they may have to take care of. I know money can be tight for everyone but even the smallest amount you can contribute will greatly help.
Dick has dedicated his entire life to helping others by being a Walpole EMT, North Walpole Fire Chief, and Police Officer for both Walpole and Charlestown for over 18 years. He grew up in Walpole and attended Walpole schools as well as Fall Mountain Regional High School. In 2004 he married my Mom, Michele Corliss, and between them they have four children and currently reside in Charlestown, NH. In 2005 Dick and three other Police Officers went to Louisiana to help assist after Hurricane Katrina. While down in Louisiana he received a cut on his foot which ended up causing a blood infection and later has led to many health issues including kidney failure.

We are all hoping that this surgery will benefit Dick in so many different ways especially so he can still watch Lindsey grow up. Please help Dick and my Mom so they don't have to worry about keeping a roof over their head or food in the fridge for not only themselves but also for Lindsey.
