Young Victim Of Hwy 509 Shooting

Donation protected
My name is Judy Avitia-Gonzalez and my partner is Jake Prendez. We are new local business owners of Nepantla Cultural Arts Gallery in the White Center neighborhood. We are working together with the community to help a local family who’s child attends school with my son. As many of you may have heard there has a been a series of shootings on highway 509 in Seattle and surrounding areas. One of these senseless shootings happened on December 20th and forever changed the life of 14 year old Andy and his family. He was left blind from his injuries and we are raising money to help this family with medical expenses, housing costs and other important needs. This campaign has been approved by Dolores, Andy’s mom. Money will be directly given to her as it comes in to help them with current costs for transportation to and from doctors visits, housing needs as well as for food. I’ve included a link below to news coverage of this story:

Andy, his parents, younger sister and little brother were driving home from church on hwy 509 near the 1st ave bridge in Seattle. A bullet came thru the front passenger window hitting Andy in the head. He miraculously survived but lost vision in both eyes due to the injury. His birthday was three days later. He turned 14 at the hospital recovering from his horrible accident. He is home from the hospital but continues treatment at Harborview Medical center. He will have another surgery soon to remove shrapnel residue from around his eyes. This family and young teen need our help. There was media coverage recently but the family has been fearful of coming in to the spotlight as whoever has committed this crime has not been caught. The family had recently moved to the area and are currently staying with family while they search for their own place to rent. Aside from housing costs and medical bills, they are now also having to help Andy adjust to life without vision. Please join us in helping this family recover.
