<div>We are a team within Home Bargains that are looking to improve mental health awareness and suicide prevention. In today’s world, mental health is becoming more and more prevalent and affects a greater number of people and yet there is still a stigma around the topic.

<div>We will be fundraising on behalf of the Samaritans who do fundamental work in this area.
</div>

<div>Every 10 seconds, Samaritans responds to a call for help.They are there, day or night, for anyone who’s struggling to cope, who needs someone to listen without judgement or pressure.
</div>
<div>Samaritans are not only for the moment of crisis, they’re taking action to prevent the crisis.
</div>
<div>They give people ways to cope and the skills to be there for others. They offer listening and support to people and communities in times of need.
</div>

<div>Every life lost to suicide is a tragedy, and Samaritans’ vision is that fewer people die by suicide.
</div>

</div>
<div>To achieve this, we believe Samaritans has a crucial role to play in:
</div>
<div>Reducing the risk factors that make some people more likely to take their own lives.
</div>
<div>Ensuring that people who are at increased risk of suicide are supported.
</div>
<div>Making it less likely that people who do experience suicidal thoughts act on them.
</div>
<div>Reducing the likelihood that people will develop suicidal thoughts.
</div>

<div>£5 is the cost to answer a call for help.
</div>
<div>£96 could train and support an existing volunteer for a year.
</div>
<div>£200 could cover the cost of a new volunteer.
</div>
<div>£500 could keep Samaritans' phone line open for one hour.
</div>
<div>It costs £3,105 per hour to deliver the service through 20,000 trained volunteers.
</div>
<div>£12,000 could keep Samaritans’ phone line open for 24 hours.
</div>

<div>With this in mind, we are looking at opening avenues within a Home Bargains to reduce this stigma and support the Samaritans on their journey. In doing so, a group of our team have agreed to take a massive leap of faith and jump from 11,000ft as a <strong>skydiving</strong> mission to fundraise for the cause on the <strong>21st July 2024. </strong>
