Hurricane Eta Relief Fund

Hurricane Eta is a category 4 major hurricane that has travelled across Central America causing grave catastrophes and deaths.

I'm raising funds specifically for San Pedro Sula, Honduras, a country where the majority of its inhabitants live in extreme poverty. Most have been struggling as it was due to the pandemic and loss of jobs.

The city finds itself particularly impacted by the storm; it is completely inundated and there have been many deaths as rescue teams continue their search for trapped victims days after the catastrophe. There is little access to clean water and electricity; and shelters are over capacity as hundreds lost homes.

I'm working with Fesitranh Fire Department to raise funds in support of those in need of shelter, clean water, food, and other resources. Fesitranh station has been executing mass rescue operations and other forms of aid throughout San Pedro for days on end. Countless people have lost everything and are mitigating through a hopeless situation of not only material loss, but of loved ones too. It is heartbreaking to see those already struggling endure such tragedy. Due to the intensity of the situation and poverty, any donation regardless of amount could help make a difference.

My name is Marissa Morales and I am a student at The University of British Columbia in Vancouver, BC but had previously been living in Honduras. My father works as a first responder at Fesitranh.

Anyone in the greater Vancouver area or Toronto can also get in touch with me personally if they are able to donate food and other resources directly. We hope to ship crates with goods as soon as possible.
