Healing Fund for Black Intersex Psych Survivor

Donation protected
A dear community member who is a Black intersex person (she / they) is currently being severely abused at McLean hospital, a psychiatric facility just outside of Boston. She has been repeatedly gaslit, forcibly drugged, and punished for naming the ways that she is being harmed due to her Blackness. Private and State run psychiatric institutions are extremely white supremacist institutions at which some of the most egregious human rights violations are routine.

Our community member has described fellow Black patients being bullied into leaving despite their desire to be there. They experienced a wealthy white male patient lunge at her while calling *her* aggressive; this person experienced no repercussions and even gets extra visitation time every week. Our peer has continuously lost “privileges” of basic human needs such as going outside as punishment for naming the anti-Blackness and other forms of abuse in the institution. She, like many psychiatric survivors, has been threatened with legal action if she continues to resist the coercive decisions they are making about her body. It's very important to her that people know this information.

Because they were put on medical leave after being forced into inpatient care by her institution’s healthcare psychiatrist, they lost all academic funding including all personal living scholarship and loans, insurance, rent, food, etc. She is in urgent need of funding for all cost of living expenses. Financial support from her family is not possible, as she often shares student stipends with her family. They are in need of confidential, financial support and media amplification of the harms perpetuated by McLean Psychiatric Hospital.

Please contribute and share, and please continue to remember that the medical field of “psychiatry” which denies the agency of and abuses Black women needs to be abolished. McLean Hospital, an affiliate of Harvard Medical School, must be publicly understood as an anti-Black and harmful institution.
