Powered wheelchair / medical bills fund

Donazione protetta
Hello Everyone,

First off let me start with saying thank you for all your prayers and well wishes we received during the past year.

On the evening of February 7, 2013 my husband David suffered a massive stroke, which left him with weakness to the left side of his body and severely limits function of upper and lower extremities.
While he has made, and still is making an amazing recovery and has exceeded expectations considering the severity of his stroke, it is still a daily struggle for him to get along. His walking is limited to mainly therapeutic walking at home for short distances. His balance is still very much off center, and his left leg while activating some will not support long distances or extended time.

He is not able to use his left hand and arm yet; most movement comes from his shoulder and bicep.
The reason I am setting up this fundraiser is to be able to get him a power wheelchair. He has a regular (no power) wheelchair at the moment, but it is hard for him to propel himself with only one side of his body working. This means he needs to rely on other pushing him or just be very slow and very tired. It has become more of an issue since he has gone back to work and when we go out, i.e. stores, park, church, etc... He is and always has been a very independent person, and does not want to have to rely on people all the time. He would like to be able to leave the house on his own account and go down the street to the grocery store for example. While he is not allowed to drive due to left sided field of vision neglect; meaning he does not see anything past midline on his left side without having to turn his head, he could get along like this.

We just celebrated his one year survivor anniversary and I would like be able to give him the gift of independence. However, with medical bills still being paid, and accrued, it is virtually impossible to afford this and insurance will not cover him for a power chair.
I am looking at very specific chair, one that is lightweight, will fold and fit in the trunk of our little car, and will not require additional equipment/lift to transport.
David will regain some independence with this and instead of getting exhausted of propelling himself in the current wheelchair he can divert that energy into more and more walking and other exercises at home to regain more of his strength.

I am looking to raise at least $3000 to be able to buy him this wheelchair and pay off some pending medical bills. I know the power of prayer but also the power of friends and the internet. If every person I know could donate even just $5 or $10 I am sure we can meet our goal.

Thank you all for your continued support and prayers.

God Bless!
