Iron Transfusions

Donation protected
My name is Tania Gonzalez. I had weight loss surgery almost 3 years ago, with my goal to be able to get healthier to control my PCOS and Endometriosis, and maybe be able to get pregnant. I have lost over 145lbs since then, and have had a second opportunity at life. I am much healthier and make way better choices for myself. I work out regularly and try to feed my body healthy food. The type of weight loss surgery I had is called Duodenal Switch. My Dr. explained that this type of surgery is at higher risk of malnutrition and vitamin deficiencies. So even with this information, both my Dr. and I felt this was the best surgery option for me. I made a commitment to myself to eat healthy, take my vitamins and be the healthiest that I could be. Despite my efforts, I started to get sick a few weeks ago. I thought it was a simple flu and allergies. Even though at that time I wasn’t feeling super sick, I took a Covid test to rule it out. It came back negative, so I continued to treat it as a stubborn flu. After many over the counter medications, I was still getting worse. I decided to see my Dr. I was told I had an upper respiratory infection, and was given antibiotics to help get rid of it. I still was not feeling any better and actually was getting worse. I did another round of antibiotics, and still was not feeling well. After my third round of antibiotics, my Dr. decided to have me test again for Covid, again came back negative. She said that with all the symptoms I had and looking at all my lab work, she was convinced that I did have Covid, we were just not able to get it on test from either testing early on/and late. She states she has treated so many people for Covid with false negative results.  After many Dr. visits, lots of antibiotics later, and a whole bunch of lab work done, my Dr. told me my body is not absorbing vitamins as I should, resulting in having 2 types of anemia, low white count cells and low Vitamin D. The good news is that the Dr. said with a few rounds of iron transfusions I should be back to normal. The bad news is that unfortunately I have been out of work for over a month due to all of this and put me in a financial hole. This is where it gets difficult for me. My insurance will cover part of it, but even with that, I am asking for help to cover my medical expenses as I do not have the money that is needed to have the transfusions done, and not having them done or holding off on them is not an option. I also want to thank you ahead of time, for helping me. God Bless us all. Thank you.
