Dear Friends and Family,
This year at Atlanta School of Ministry has been an amazing experience of spiritual growth. I would not be here if it weren’t for your prayers and support—thank you so much!
I am writing to share with you the once-in-a-lifetime opportunities God has provided me, to describe how amazing it is to be a part of something real and effective, and to implore you for your continued support. I am making a difference, my faith is stronger than ever, and I want to tell you about it.
In this place, I am not here as a student but a missionary learning by doing the ministry, a servent of the Lord, going and serving him. I am here knowing that through the obedience of being here it is not just growing me, but those aroung me through relationship and prayer. By being here over this short amount of time, he has shown me so much and I am so excited about where he is going to take me but even more excited about where he has me right now in the moment.
One of the ways that I get to serve is by being a part of a hands-on ministry team called “Adopt-A-Block.” Every Saturday, we go into the streets of specific blocks and focus on creating relationships. This work provides an opportunity to share the love of Christ through radical acceptance, compassion, and selfless service just by being there for the people whom we’ve built relationships with and allowing them to see that the church is not just a building but a body of people. Since our program started, there are now over nine Adopt-A-Blocks in the United States, and it just keeps growing! And guess what? I get to be a part of one block each week---it is awesome to see the impact on the community. The relationships I have made are genuine and fulfilling, and rooted in the love of God. I am encouraged. Truly, working in the service of God is my true love.
This summer, I am interning in the kitchen. We feed on adverage 300 meals a day to the hungry. This mission lets me do what I love: cook and meal-plan to make sure people get the right nutrition and feeding the missionaries that come from all over the country to do all of the ministries. This summer we have had many projects accomplished to better accomidate the kitchen and I am excited about this year! I am absolutely in love with the place God has me right now!
One other great thing that is happening is I am going to AFRICA! I am leaving in December and I am so excited! There will be more updates on the trip as soon as I have more information!
Though all of these things that I am so blessed to be apart of are great, I am even more blessed to know that God has his hand on every aspect of everything that he does here. With everything that happens here there is a price that has to be paid and here it is a small price to pay in the big scheme of things. The price of our missionary fund which includes: food, housing, books, travel, and the trip to Africa, the total cost is $7,900. After speaking to my finacial person at the school I am now just in need of $2,850! That's hardly nothing! In perspective, it's just 13 people giving $25 a month! or $215. God is so good, and I know that he is so much bigger than any amount of money. Prayer is equally as important as financial so if you would like to be a prayer partner, let me know and I will send you newsletters letting you know how I am doing!
Thank you so much for your prayers and support so far. Be encouraged that the lord is using me in a powerful way. I cannot continue in this program without a miracle. I am trusting God that He will provide; I am living by faith, trusting in Him to use me as He sees fit. I am but a vessel, excited about the Lord, ready and willing to serve with all my heart.
