The Tagline:
I`ve been accepted to intern in Malawi to support a program which empowers women in agriculture but I can't afford to go!

The Story:
I am a second semester Master's Student at the Andrew Young School of Policy Studies in Atlanta with a concentration in Nonprofit Management. My mission is to be an educated, experienced, humble and cultured leader who promotes justice, equity, and the empowerment of marginalized peoples throughout the world.

CARE International offered me an amazing internship opportunity, which would enhance my goals and grow my multi-cultural perspective through a home-stay and qualitative research work in Malawi. Specifically, I will gain experience planning large-scale research projects and build my leadership reach through a greater understanding of the challenges of women in agriculture. I am assigned to support the Pathway`s Program which aims to "improve poor smallholder women farmer's productivity and profitability by empowering women to more fully engage in equitable agriculture systems." Some of its specific goals are to reduce food insecurity, increase nutritional access to women and their families and to increase the buying power of women participants.

The problem is: between my jobs and Stafford Loan money, I have less than $1,200 a month to live upon. Since I cannot increase my student loan amount further, without the help of GoFundMe it will be impossible for me to cover the travel and living costs required to participate in this internship experience abroad.

Growing up in and out of poverty and becoming part of community-serving organizations at a young age has shaped my values, propelled my purpose driven goals and revealed the true impact of empowering others through mentoring, education, and safety nets when necessary. If my mentors and family members had not believed in me, I never could have excelled to the level of education I am currently in the process of achieving. I believe that this opportunity will lift me to even greater heights, develop my leadership abilities and enable me to give back more to communities in need "“ globally.

I am only hoping for help with $2,500 for a plane ticket from Atlanta to Lilongwe, Malawi and $1,000 for living expenses- $3,500 total.
