This Beautiful little princess is my best friends daughter. She is a happy little battler at only 6 months old.Halle was born a healthy happy girl that captured the hearts of everyone around her, she was progressing well with her milestones and growing so fast; rolling over and attentively following everything with those big blue eyes.
At 3 months of age Halle's parents realized that something wasn't right. She had started to become irritable and stopped rolling over, her head circumference began expanding at a rate of 1 cm per week. Within a week of Halle starting to regress in her milestones she started having absent seizures.
Halle's pediatrician organized an ultrasound, the results showed that their little girl had fluid on the brain that was giving her migraines and causing pressure in her brain.
Over the last 3 months Halle has had a number of tests including MRI's, EEG, blood tests etc. The results are a diagnosis of External Hydrocephalus & Subependymal Heterotopia. This means a life-time of medical appointments & treatments & a lot of uncertainty for Halles' future development. The specialists are sure that Halle will develop disabilities but can not predict to what extent.
Halle is awaiting surgery for an external shunt to drain the fluid & relieve the pressure in her brain; Unfortunately there is no surgery currently available to remove the Heterotopia which is the cause of the seizures as well as the current & future development delays.
So this is what I would like to do:
1) Raise funds for current treatments: Halle has physio, neurosurgeon, neurologist & pediatrician appointments. Each appointment costs anywhere from $70 - $200 and hospital parking alone is $30 per day. This family has limited funds & an older child with Autism who also requires therapy that the family pays for.
2) Raise fund for an Angel Care Monitor: Halle currently sleeps in the same room as her parents due to the fear that Halle will have a seizure during the night. An Angel Care Monitor will help the parents to have some peace of mind and hopefully improve everyone's sleep.
3) Raise funds for qualified care workers for the older child while Halle and her parents are in and out of hospital.
