"‹It's been 8 months since I traveled to the incredible country of Kenya, Africa and I can't begin to describe the ways it has changed my life for the better. Upon my return home, there was no doubt in my mind I would be returning to continue the work my heart is on fire for. Since my journey one year ago I have begun sponsoring Tabitha, an incredible little girl who has a bright spirit that was once diminished while walking the streets feeble and frail. I turn to see her picture on my desk every day at school and can't help but think about all of the other children that deserve the same love and support.
On June 11th, 2014 I will be embarking on a 2 month journey to Naomi's Village with a dear friend and fellow teacher whom I met while serving in Africa last year. Our 2 month stay will focus on Naomi's Village and the children that now have a place to call home. If you have followed me since my days at NV last summer, you know that Naomi's Village is breaking ground on a school, Cornerstone Preparatory Academy, in 2014 that will soon be open to 240 Kenyan children with in the district along with the children from Naomi's Village. I am so excited to be able to lend a helping hand to the teachers, staff, and students of this first world school.
I hope you see the value in what we will accomplish as leaders and learners. as you can imagine, a trip like this requires financial support from a number of people. I need to raise $3,800 by June 11th. If you can support me in a financial way, I would be very grateful. Most importantly, I also need your prayer support. We have chosen a verse that will be our strength and mission. John 14:18 "I will not leave you as orphans; I will come to you." Prayer is the fuel that will allow J'Layne and I to be successful as we follow God's leading in ministry in this country. Without prayer, nothing will happen.
During this journey, I will be continuing my blog from last summer at www.ashleydee87.wordpress.com. While internet is limited, I will try and update on my daily inspirations and happenings as often as possible. I hope that you will join me and follow me on this journey to see the difference that you have also made in the lives of these children.
