Brady Needs Surgery

Hello everyone, thank you for taking the time to read Brady's story:

Brady is our beloved 5-year-old mixed breed mutt, whom we rescued from the Hawaiian Humane Society when he was 4-months old. Although he is named after the NFL QB Tom Brady, unfortunately unlike Tom, Brady was not blessed with the best genetics and was diagnosed with Bilateral Cranial Cruciate Ligament Disease.

Brady has always been full of energy and enthusiasm. His wagging tail and joyful spirit have brought boundless happiness into our lives. He's the kind of dog who brightens even the darkest days with his unconditional love and goofy personality. I may be biased, but Brady is a very good boy.

He absolutely loves to go out on walks, to the beach, basically being out and about is his joy. However, a few months ago, after a normal walk we noticed that Brady was limping, and it didn’t go away after a few days of resting, so we decided to take him to the vet to get it checked out. That visit was when his vet diagnosed him with Bilateral Cranial Cruciate Ligament Disease, Brady’s ligaments are torn and is causing him to limp. It broke our hearts. Our playful, energetic, loving boy has been in pain and will continue to be in pain unless the surgery is done. Of course, there are other remedies that we considered, such as continuous steroid injections and continuous pain medications, however, none would have the same lasting effect as surgery and frankly would be equally if not more costly since Brady is still young.

We do have pet insurance. However, that didn’t matter. According to our policy, the grace period for this specific surgery and the varying treatments that go with it, is 180 days. The day we took him to see the vet, we were at 173 days…. just 7 days short. After being informed of our policy and trying to advocate that we are only a week away, it was clear that nothing will be covered.

Brady is more than just a pet; he is a cherished member of our family. Since his diagnosis we’ve had to cut back on his activity and really monitor him, so it doesn’t get worse and causes him more pain. It's been devastating to see how much of a change to his personality this has caused him, and our once active and playful boy struggle to even walk. Asking for monetary assistance is very uncomfortable for us, but the financial aspects of his surgery and post-operative care are something that we cannot do alone.

Our hope is that with your generous support, we can give Brady a second chance at a happy and active life. The surgery will alleviate his pain and allow him to chase after his sister (Tatiana) and brother (Ajax), and enjoy the simple pleasures of being a dog again. Every donation, no matter how small, brings us closer to our goal. Your support will directly contribute to Brady's surgery and follow-up treatments. We promise to keep you updated on his progress every step of the way, and we'll be forever grateful for your kindness and compassion. Please consider donating and sharing Brady's story with your friends and family. Together, we can give Brady the chance to run again and fill our lives with the joy only he can bring.

Thank you for being a part of Brady's journey ❤️
