Ma' main cause: From April 28th to June 14th - I'mma be volunteering in Cusco, Peru as a child care worker through Maximo Nivel & International Volunteer HQ. With this program, volunteers work in orphanages, community centers, daycare centers and schools with children who could use some extra support and attention in their everyday lives. The secondary, however just as meaningful as the first, cause of this little adventure: For all of those out there who have always wondered what I would look like without my mane o' frizz, I have decided to buzzzz my hair and donate my locks to Angel Hair for Kidsâ"ž¢. Angel Hair for Kidsâ"ž¢ is "a program of A Child’s Voice Foundationâ"ž¢ that provides wigs and hair loss solutions to financially disadvantaged children in Canada who have lost their hair due to a medical condition or treatment". ) My initial fundraising goal of $1300 will be used to cover the child care volunteer program costs & registration. Any amount raised above this I would like to donate directly to the local orphanage or community center location I'll be volunteering at. The time line for my fundraising will run up until June while I am still in Peru. So basically... if my initial goal of volunteering in Peru just doesn't compare to that almost $10 latte you're gonna get today, perhaps the thought of a child (or two or three...) given the simple gift of a beautiful bodacious wig wins the ticket... or maybe me becoming a Patrick Stewart look-alike does (& obviously the commander of the USS Enterprise, when the time comes) ... either way, it won't offend me which one really wins, I'll ♥ you just the same :)
