Elaine Lasater Help with Medical Care

After a lifetime of caring for others, my mother is now the one in need. On Thanksgiving, mama had a severe stroke that left her paralyzed on her left side. She has been undergoing therapy since December 6th at The Laurels but we are now being told that she has gained about as much function as possible. Since her rehab is being discontinued, Medicare will longer cover the cost of her stay at the nursing facility. I'm trying to move her from the nursing home to Cambridge Hills assisted living, where she will be more comfortable and receive the quality of care she deserves.
Unfortunately, insurance will not cover any of this and she must wait 45 days to apply for Medicaid. In the meantime, we will have to pay out-of-pocket until Medicaid is approved and we cannot lose this spot.

Mama has touched the lives of everyone she encounters. I often call her the George Bailey of Pittsboro because she has never met a stranger. I can't walk 10 feet in town without at least three folks asking how she is or what they can do help. Well, this is my plea for help. Please consider a donation to help fund these medical expenses.
