It has been rough. First my mother has a heart attack, followed by a stroke that has left her disabled. Then my grandmother fell and broke her hip. And now a brain tumor for Logan.
Logan thought he had sinus issues from allergies, which lead to a feeling of sinus pressure. He went to the doctor and was prescribed antibiotics. A few days later his vision started to become an issue in his left eye, which progressed quickly to, as he put it, looking through static on t.v., to now starting to lose vision in his left eye all together.
An appointment was made for a MRI, which revealed a tumor called a Pituitary Adenoma. He and I (Lindsay) went to see the Neurosurgeon who informed us that the tumor is pressing on his left optic nerve and they are expecting it to grow quickly towards his right optic nerve. The Neurosurgeon said that if they do not act quickly, Logan's vision may be permanently lost in his left eye with his right one not be far behind. Even with the surgery, Logan's vision in his left eye may not return to 100% and even though these tumors are mostly benign, they will need to send it off for confirmation, as the surgeon is concerned at how quickly it seems to be growing.
I am expecting our second baby next month and have been a stay at home mom with Cameron, our first born, making Logan the sole income into our home.
The Neurosurgeon has informed us that Logan will be out of work for at least a month in recovery, which of course puts a tremendous strain, not only on day to day life, but the new baby coming very soon!
So, that brings us to asking for help. The hospital has declared that the surgery isn't 'life threatening', even though the imminent threat of losing his eyesight is looming. They are requiring a 'down payment' just to schedule the surgery. When you add everything we are going through and preparing for together, we just don't have it. We are asking for help. Anything you can give would be a blessing.
