My community project, The Natural Way Birthing Project ~ Fort Worth, TX (referred to as The Birthing Project) is partnering with Birth Blessings Professional Birth Services, LLC (referred to as Birth Blessings) and seeking funds from contributors to expand our global reach. This effort will facilitate the mission of The Birthing Project to educate, advocate and support pregnant women who are disproportionately affected by infant mortality. Infant Mortality is the statistical rate of babies dying before reaching their 1st birthday. In Tarrant County zip code, 76112, we have one of the highest infant mortality rates in the state of Texas and the United States, respectively, especially for women of color. African-American babies, in particular, die at a rate almost 3x higher than their ethnic counterparts. Many would consider Tarrant County's infant mortality crisis a "state of emergency" for women and the infants we lose each year. Our collaborative goal is to support healthy birth outcomes in our community and in cultural communities for generations to come.

The Birthing Project and Birth Blessings aim to provide professional, cultural labor support to local women in order to respect and honor their native region, right here in the United States. And, to further the mission of the community"“led programs offered by The Birthing Project to expand and work with the county hospital's International Health Clinic at John Peter Smith (JPS) funded by their Global Health Fellowship.

I'm preparing to attend an International Doula Training Program in BALI, INDONESIA. This opportunity will bridge care for pregnant women in this community with tools to assist them with empowered birth options. Upon return, I will be able to effectively train bilingual women to become doulas, who will assist their native sisterhood of expectant mothers while in labor. These newly skilled doulas will help to overcome the language barrier and assist international birthing mothers with dignity in this western birth atmosphere. They will serve The Birthing Project's international participants as well as local mothers to help impact this health disparity that affects us in more ways than we can imagine.

Please donate to help with my international doula training costs and travel expenses. NO AMOUNT IS TOO SMALL!! Thank you for your support and all that you do to undergird our passion for empowering women to trust their body, their baby, their birth!
