Jed's Medical Fund

Our fun-loving, dear friend Jed “Jedi” Weekly needs some help. Jed has Stage Three Colon Cancer. He can not work right now and has already used up any paid time off that he had, for his surgery and recovery time.

In 1993, Jed joined the Air Force. While he was enlisted, he served two separate tours at Osan AB, Korea with the 5th Reconnaissance  Squadron where he worked on the U-2 aircraft. He then moved to Beale AFB, CA, and worked in the 99th Reconnaissance Squadron, also with the U-2s. He ended his career with the Air Force at Eielson AFB, Alaska, with the 355th Fighter Squadron working on the A-10 aircraft. While in Korea the first time he received the airman’s medal, one of the Air Force’s highest medals for saving a pilot’s life, while blowing out his shoulder in the process. He had lots of fun, and made a lot of friends along the way. During his service he started getting really sick. He was diagnosed with Colitis and after six years of service, he was medically discharged in 1999.

Jed has always known that he was at a higher risk for colon cancer, because of the colitis, so he was checked regularly. Earlier this year, routine tests confirmed that Jed had stage three colon cancer. Within weeks, he had surgery to remove his cancerous colon. He is still working hard to recover from step one, and now needs to undergo Chemotherapy.

Jed is a humble man who would never ask for, and would normally flat out refuse any kind of help, but the situation is now dire, bills keep coming and money does not. Earlier this year Jed’s home went from a two income home, down to one when his wife and he divorced, leaving him to pay all of the household bills instead of sharing the burden. Since the divorce, and up until his surgery, he had been working two jobs to make ends meet, and now he is unable to work at either of these jobs. He has two little girls who live with him 80% of the time, and he has to keep food on the table, along with a roof over their heads. Jed has not received any kind of disability to date, and has used all of his paid time off to recover from surgery, and will no longer be collecting a paycheck for the foreseeable future, once he finally is able to return to work, he will still be needing lots of time off for treatments and recovery time, so his paychecks will still not be what they should be.

We are asking for you to share this though any channels you may have throughout social media, and if you can give anything, that you consider giving to Jed and his girls to get them through this rough time. Thank you everyone.
