"Children of Africa"--Service in Ghana

Hello all,
Recently I was accepted to partake on a service trip in Ghana, Africa. As many of you know, I attended HOBY (Hugh O'Brien Youth Leadership) and Governor's Institute on Current Issues and Youth Activism over this past summer. Both of these experiences opened my eyes to the world around me and allowed me to better see the world as it truly is. My Issue Group at Governor's Institute was focused on the issues of children around the globe, and many of those issues are present in Africa. Also, I am a camp counselor at a local summer camp where my passion for working with children has developed, and so have my ideas about the importance of education. This trip with GLA (http://www.experiencegla.com/) allows me to work with children while experiencing some of the issues they may face. It will provide a hands-on learning experience that will give me a once-in-a-lifetime chance to gain more firsthand knowledge about children in Ghana and beyond.
