The Khris Mapp Project is a small non-profit dedicated to helping elementary school kids get clothing, school supplies and items for personal hygiene that they need and otherwise cannot afford. I am a one man show and my current area of focus is in Mt. Clemens, Michigan but I hope to replicate this in the neighborhood where I grew up. My name is Khris Mapp. I was born and raised in Detroit Michigan near Seven Mile and Outer Drive and graduated from East Detroit High School (now Eastpointe HS) in 2001. I remember what is was like to not have enough clothes to have a clean outfit each day, or the school supplies I needed to do my school work. So when I started working part time as a bus aid in 2015 for the schools in Mt. Clemens my heart went out to the kids I would see coming on to the bus with the same clothes day after day. That is when I took it upon myself to do something about it. I began by purchasing clothes and taking them to the families that I knew needed them. Word started getting out and the need started growing. That is when I created the Khris Mapp Project and the 501(c)(3) foundation. I still deliver supplies to individual family but now I also organize temporary distribution centers though various churches and community centers. I have tried raising money through candy sales and other similar means but it never seems to be enough. Through the help of some friends I am going to try using GoFundMe and have set a target goal of $2,000 to use for the 2019-2020 school year. 100% of all proceeds go towards clothing and supplies of school and personal hygiene.
